Strawberry Cartwheel
A sorbet, not an ice cream. Hallam Lane strawberries, lemon, nothing else. Dairy-free.
Thirty-one tubs in the freezer
Churned behind the sea wall at Puddleport since 2011
Twelve flavours, made in forty-litre batches, sold in tubs off our own doorstep and in cones out of the hatch on Gullrow Steps. Flump does the waving.
Two scoops and a shower of hundreds and thousands, Gullrow Steps
Collection from the hatch is free · delivery £4.80 inside twelve miles, packed in a cold box · eleven of the twelve are in the freezer today
Thursday is churn day
These four go out faster than we can make them, so the numbers on the flavour page are the real ones and they change on a Thursday afternoon. Banoffee Bump is down to nine tubs as of this morning.
The six-tub box · £36.00
No freezer in between. The tub you open was in the churn nine days ago at the most, and this is the whole of Flump’s week.
Drag the yard sideways to follow it along — the four steps are written out underneath either way.
Thursday, 6am
Dunnock Farm cream and whatever fruit the Tuesday market had, one flavour at a time, straight out of the spout into a tub.
Thursday, noon
Into 500ml tubs on the bench, lidded, dated and counted. Nobody machine-fills anything here, which is why there are only forty.
Friday, before seven
Wool lining, two dry-ice sheets, a beech scoop and tape over the lid so you know nobody opened it on the way.
Saturday, by noon
The twelve-mile ring, done by the van itself. If you are out it goes to a neighbour and we text you which door.
Six to start you off
Prices are per 500ml tub. Stock is counted on Thursday afternoon and again whenever the hatch shuts.
A sorbet, not an ice cream. Hallam Lane strawberries, lemon, nothing else. Dairy-free.
Thirty-one tubs in the freezer
Two split pods per batch, so it is speckled. The one the children ask for twice.
Forty-two tubs in the freezer
Seventy-one per cent, melted in by hand so it ends up fudgy rather than icy.
Twenty-eight tubs in the freezer
Burnt-sugar toffee, banana folded in at the end so you get ribbons instead of mush.
Only nine tubs left
We make the honeycomb on a Tuesday and smash it with a rolling pin. It keeps selling out.
Sold out — back Saturday 14 March 2026
Coconut cream base, toasted flakes stirred through. Dairy-free and the one vegans ask for.
Thirty tubs in the freezer
My boy asked for the strawberry one at his birthday and then would not eat the cake. I have made my peace with it.

£4.80 anywhere inside twelve miles of Puddleport, and free once the order passes £40. Order by Wednesday at 6pm and the van brings it on Saturday morning, usually before noon. Outside twelve miles we cannot promise the ice cream arrives frozen, so we do not send it.
Six 500ml tubs of whichever flavours you picked, a beech scoop, two dry-ice sheets and a wool lining you can put in the compost. The card on top says which tub to open first and which will keep.
Unopened tubs, yes — fourteen days, bring them to the hatch or we collect on the van run, and you get the money back within three working days. If a box turns up soft, photograph it the same day and we remake the lot rather than refund it.
Every tub lists milk, egg, nuts, soya and gluten on the lid, and the same list sits on each flavour page. Four of the twelve are dairy-free. All of it is churned in one small room, so we cannot promise a batch has never met a hazelnut — if that matters to you, ring us first.
Three weeks in a home freezer with the lid on properly, and it is best in the first ten days — there is no stabiliser in it, so it goes grainy eventually. Never refreeze a tub that has gone soft in the car.
Twelve flavours, eleven of them in the freezer this minute, and a van that already knows your road.
Free collection from Gullrow Steps, Thursday to Sunday, 11am until the tubs run out.
