Strawberry Cartwheel
A sorbet, not an ice cream. Hallam Lane strawberries, lemon, nothing else at all.
Dairy-freeThirty-one tubs in the freezer
Churned Thursday · counted this morning
Every tub is 500ml and every price below is the whole tub, not a scoop. Four of the twelve are dairy-free. One is sold out and it is Honeycomb Crunchle, as usual.
Twelve flavours, sorted the way Flump lines them up on the shelf — pink at the left, mango at the right.
A sorbet, not an ice cream. Hallam Lane strawberries, lemon, nothing else at all.
Dairy-freeThirty-one tubs in the freezer
Two split pods a batch, so it comes out speckled rather than pale.
Forty-two tubs in the freezer
Seventy-one per cent, melted in by hand so it ends up fudgy instead of icy.
Twenty-eight tubs in the freezer
Fresh mint steeped overnight. The chips are chopped with a knife, not grated.
Nineteen tubs in the freezer
Caramel taken a shade too far on purpose, then pulled back with sea salt.
Twenty-four tubs in the freezer
Burnt-sugar toffee with banana folded in at the end, so you get ribbons.
Only nine tubs left
Forced rhubarb from Nettlefold rippled through a proper egg custard base.
Sixteen tubs in the freezer
Pistachios ground here on a Wednesday. The dearest thing we make, and worth it.
Eleven tubs in the freezer
A blackcurrant sorbet rippled into coconut cream. Purple all the way down.

We make the honeycomb on a Tuesday and smash it with a rolling pin.
Sold out — back Saturday 14 March 2026
Coconut cream base with toasted flakes stirred through at the last minute.

Mango, lime and nothing else. A sorbet, and the brightest tub in the freezer.

Off the doorstep
Packed by hand on Thursday afternoon, lidded, dated and stacked. A 500ml tub is four decent scoops, or two if somebody is upset about something.
At the hatch
Eight of the twelve are on the hatch board on any given day, and which eight depends on what sold out at the weekend. Cones are made in Puddleport by the bakery two doors along.
Forty litres at a time
One churn, one room, one flavour at a time. Cream comes from Dunnock Farm on the Nettlefold road twice a week and whatever fruit the Tuesday market had decides what goes in next. That is the whole operation, and it is why the list is twelve long rather than thirty.
Nothing here carries a stabiliser or a gum, so a tub is at its best in the first ten days and will go grainy if you keep it a month. We would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise.
The things people ring up about, in the order they ring up about them.
Ask Flump
Strawberry Cartwheel, Blackcurrant Ripple Rocket, Coconut Cloud and Mango Somersault contain no milk, cream or egg, and they are churned first on a Thursday before any dairy goes near the machine. It is still one machine in one room, so for a diagnosed allergy rather than a preference, please ring 01998 44 20 18 and we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot promise.
Milk and egg in the eight dairy flavours. Nuts in Pistachio Pow only. Gluten in the waffle cones, never in the ice cream itself. No soya anywhere. Every lid carries the same list printed on it, and the hatch has a folder with the full recipe sheets if you want to read one while you queue.
A six-tub box holds six 500ml tubs and nothing else — a 1.5L party tub takes up the space of three, so it travels in a box of its own. Mixing the two in one delivery is fine, it is just two boxes and one delivery charge.
Somebody counts the freezer on Thursday afternoon when the churn stops, and again every time the hatch shuts. The numbers you see are those counts, not an estimate. If a flavour runs out between counts we ring you before the van leaves and you choose a swap or a refund.
Put your name on the waiting list and you get one message the morning it is back in the freezer, with a day to order before it goes on this page. The price does not change while it is out. Honeycomb Crunchle is back on Saturday 14 March 2026.
Pick any six from the twelve. Flump will put the one he likes best on top.
Order by Wednesday 6pm. Collection from Gullrow Steps is free and always will be.
